Species
Devil's Shoestring consists of more than 1 plant species that can be used interchangibly for magical workings and spiritual practices.  Devil's Shoestring is the common name for several plants that grow in various regions in North America. We try to keep all 3 in stock as they are available.
  1. Nolina lindheimeriana or Lindheimer's Beargrass, are a genus of North American plants that can successfully grow in arid environments.
  2. Tephrosia virginiana, also known as goat-rue, goat's rue, catgut, rabbit pea, Virginia tephrosia, hoary pea, and devil's shoestring is in the Fabaceae family. The plant is native to central and eastern North America.
  3. Various species of Viburnum, usually Viburnum alnifolium (alder-leafed viburnum or hobblebush), but sometimes the related species Viburnum opulus (cramp-bark) or Viburnum prunifolium (black haw). These plants are in the honeysuckle family and all of them grow in the woods. The roots of all three are used medically as anti-spasmodics, especially to ease menstrual cramps.
